From The U.S. Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator …
I’m pleased to report on an important milestone achieved as a result of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the General Administration of China Customs (GACC) joint effort to combat counterfeit goods. On Wednesday, following a month-long joint operation, CBP and GACC announced the seizure of over 243,000 counterfeit consumer electronics products. The joint operation, which was the largest bilateral customs enforcement effort to date, focused both on shipments in China prior to export and imports at the U.S. border. Coordinated operations with tangible results is meaningful progress, and underscore the importance of continued action and cooperation by Chinese law enforcement and customs agencies on IPR enforcement, as recently committed to in the Fifth U.S.-China Strategic & Economic Dialogue.
