Subject: ICE-HSI Arrests Two in Connection with Counterfeit Airbags
Yesterday, ICE-HSI and the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan announced that two men were arrested and charged with trafficking in counterfeit airbags. That announcement can be found here. ICE and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have issued warnings to consumers regarding the dangers of counterfeit airbags.
Consumers need to be aware of the dangers of counterfeit parts and components that are essential to passenger safety. I applaud the ongoing work of the IPR Center and the Department of Justice to investigate and notify the public about intellectual property crimes that pose significant risks to public safety.
