Development of the Joint Strategic Plan on Intellectual Property Enforcement

The Federal Government is starting the process of developing a new Joint Strategic Plan on Intellectual Property Enforcement. In a request for comments [FR Doc. 2012–15477 Filed 6–25–12], the U.S. Government, through the Office of the U.S. Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator (‘‘IPEC’’), invites public input and participation in shaping the Administration’s intellectual property enforcement strategy.

The following question appears under “III. Optional Questions” …

7. What authentication tools and track and trace technologies would significantly enhance federal efforts to identify suspect counterfeit or pirated goods?

  1. Owen Peters says:

Henry, I am aware of, and invested in Applied DNA Sciences (APDN). They, as you may know, are using “enhanced” botanical DNA to mark/trace products and are currently in a second phase of tests overseen by LMI/DLA & DoD. Can you share any thoughts/opinions on their technology?

    • I look forward to seeing the results of various studies that include the evaluation of this technology.

Go for it Owen. I noticed Henry is also connected to Janice and Mitchell on LinkedIn. I wonder just how the military is connected to this Strategic plan because at least the DOD is aware of Applied DNA.

  2. This just in from TechAmerica …

The Office of Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator (IPEC) has granted an extenstion of time to file comments in response to its June 26 Federal Register notice seeking input on shaping the Administration’s intellectual property enforcement strategy going forward.

Comments are now due August 10.
